Content description

In this workshop, we will start to build an understanding of the complex landscape around NFTs and Web3 to initiate project ideas. We cover technological basics like cryptocurrency, blockchains, and smart contracts, and gain inspiration from a diverse overview of global cryptoart practices. We will learn about platforms, digital curation, new digital mechanics and tools, and discuss the meaning of ownership and provenance in the virtual space. We will discover NFTs through two separate lenses: an alternative economic system and the future of decentralized storage, by looking at the potential of dynamic metadata, community building as the core of a new art market, and case studies in crypto for larger causes.

Akosua (pronounced ‘A-koss-ya) Viktoria Adu-Sanyah is an internationally exhibited and published German-Ghanaian visual artist and documentary photographer based in Zürich, Switzerland. Her work is frequently awarded for exploring new territories through image-making and research. In her practice, she applies documentary and conceptual methods with an interest in the materiality of photography reflecting on political and environmental issues. Since May 2021, Adu-Sanyah has been active in the NFT and Web3 space, most notably with her project Behold The Ocean. She collaborated with well-known organizations in the space such as Assembly Curated & Fellowship and was engaged as a public speaker at large NFT conferences in New York City and Lisbon.
