In this workshop, we will start to build an understanding of the complex landscape around NFTs and Web3 to initiate project ideas. We cover technological basics like cryptocurrency, blockchains, and smart contracts, and gain inspiration from a diverse overview of global cryptoart practices. We will learn about platforms, digital curation, new digital mechanics and tools, and discuss the meaning of ownership and provenance in the virtual space. We will discover NFTs through two separate lenses: an alternative economic system and the future of decentralized storage, by looking at the potential of dynamic metadata, community building as the core of a new art market, and case studies in crypto for larger causes.
