Content description

Maxa Zoller, curator, writer (London)

In the context of IMAGE | EVENT ( Centre D'Art Contemporain, Geneva, December 6-8, 2010), TRANS, Head – Geneva’s Master Program on the art of transmission, will propose an experimental mediation project which accompanies IMAGE I MOUVEMENT, developed by students in close relationship with artists through a series of workshops with n.o.where et Chtot Delal groups. In anticipation of the three-day platform at CAC, London-based Maxa Zoller and artists representing the no.w.here space, (www.no-w-here.org.uk) will lead a seminar and a workshop with the Master TRANS students.

Maxa Zoller is a German London-based lecturer in film and video art, curator and writer. For many years she has been collaborating with Karen Mirza and Brad Butler, filmmakers and founders of no.w.here, a unique independent space for the production of films, art and discourse in East London. Maxa will present and discuss critical films and texts which explore the apparatic conditions of image production in a politically contested image-saturated world.

What is the political place of the image? How are art students in Geneva connected to the global? How and what kind of images enter and exit Geneva? The seminar is designed to introduce the students to key ideas of contemporary art discourse while being sensitive to the local specificities of the students.
